There’s the tendency to criticize the Jewish people during their time in the desert, but I’ve found that it’s always so much easier to see the speck in the other person’s eye while looking past the 2′x4′ in our own. The “prosperity gospel”; the chants of “Your next in line for your blessing” and the other “words of reassurance” speak clearly to the fact that we have long hidden and made acceptable the very same attitude we criticize the Jews for.
- Jesus is actually spelt H-E-R-O; just ask the weak, weary, uncertain, hurt, lonely, unloved, forgotten, displaced… or just ask ME – #fb #
- At times the healing is more painful than the initial hurt; just as at times it is more painful to truly forgive than it is to remain angry #
- To truly know the cost of someone else's praise – are we ready to be that vulnerable or to be swept away by that level of intimacy? #fb #
- God reminded me of something today – He said: "I got your back. " – is there any better comfort than knowing God is on your side? #fb #
So I was walking along, thinking about this entire sexual purity gig when an idea struck me! What if I flipped the words around so that I was trying to handle my sexual purity, but my pure sexuality? What if I started from the point that sex was NOT an implicitly bad thing that needed to be purified, but instead that I was made as a sexual being and that this drive was as much as part of me as anything else?
I started thinking and I recognize that this won’t work for everyone, but I REALLY wondered if I would behave differently if I recognized my sexiness as something to be embraced and put in God’s hands to fulfill/satisfy instead of something to be repressed and shackled like a wild dog. What if I started my morning conversations with God thanking Him for my erection and actively dedicating my penis to Him and His work in the same way I do with other parts of my body… what if I spoke to Him about the wet dreams, or thanked Him for allowing me to appreciate a good-looking woman… what if I could share my sexuality and sexual yearnings with God in the same way I do with nearly everything else?
I can’t say whether it’ll be a recipe for good or bad – but I do know it’d make me a heck of a lot more comfortable!
- People come to the church looking for saints, not realizing they've entered a hospital full of sick people being treated with the blood #fb #
- Our relationship with God is a great training ground for the openness and vulnerability that intimacy both requires and begets #fb #
- No one really wants to hear what we have to say about the love of Jesus until they’ve seen it in our lives (http://bit.ly/bNU6z8) – J.S. #fb #

- Someone might be moving toward the kingdom of God.. respect beliefs, watch for receptivity, then point to the bible's one true God. – DF #fb #
- The measure of our faith can be found in just how uncomfortable we're willing to allow God to make us #fb #
- The bible tells us to "resist the Devil" and "flee temptation"; but we "flee the devil" and try incessantly to "resist temptation"! #fb #
- If we really believed that God meant what He said, just imagine! Do I really dare to let God be to me all that He says He will be? – OC #fb #

- Satan will attack your physical, emotional and social BEFORE he attempts the spiritual where God resides. Fight back! Stop confining God! #
So, someone needs to explain to me this “gradations” of singleness thing – “single but purposed”, “single but committed”, “single but in transition”, “single”, “nah nuhbody” … all these years I’ve always had it as single, in a relationship and married -now I’m being confused by all this terminology.
…and another thing… can someone explain dating versus courtship… and why it’s seen as “ok” and even “healthy” to date multiple people at once?
Exo. 11:1-3 (inclusive) – When God does something, He covers all the angles. The Israelites had been enslaved for generation upon generation; they had become poor and “destitute” -and had Pharaoh driven them out with all their possessions as they were, they would not have had the earthly resources to become the nation God had intended. So what does God do? He makes the Egyptians look favorably upon the Israelites (some would argue that they were by now willing to give them anything they wanted if that meant getting rid of the Israelites and avoiding further plagues). So God ensures to send them away rich! Go… ask your neighbours for stuff… not just any stuff though, ask them for articles of much worth – articles of gold and silver!
Exo. 11:4-8 (inclusive) – The prophetic details of plague number 10: the death of the firstborn. This would be the defining moment for God and his people, as well as for Pharaoh and those within the walls of the once great empire of Egypt.
Exo. 11:9-10 (inclusive) – God assures Moses and Aaron that He will ensure that Pharaoh will not relent until this ultimate judgement was levied against him.
That Exodus 11! See you for Exodus 12 soon.
Apologies for the delay in this posting. Exodus 11 will be up later tonight, thereby completing the chapters for this week.
Exo. 10:1-2 (inclusive) – God goes a little further into why He is treating with Pharaoh the way He is. This was a judgement that was to be a testament of His power to His people! He knew the troubles the would face for generations to come and wanted to give them a tangible reminder of the awesome power (and the depth of the wrath) of the Almighty God.
Exo. 10:3-6 (inclusive) – First things first: I must apologize for being wrong about something earlier – in the review of Exodus 8 I called a gnat synonymous with a locust. I was way wrong. Two different things entirely. Gnats would be more analogous to lice, and locusts more so with grasshoppers. Here are some pics of the two: Gnat vs. Locust.
