Over the past couple years Jamaica has lost some “giants of its culture” – people who in many ways shaped and promoted the “good and grand” things of what Jamaica and being Jamaican is/was all about. Thinking on the most recent loss – Professor Barry Chevannes – brought me to this thought: Is Christian mentorship working?
I question this because it always seems that when a “stalwart of the faith” passes here in Jamaica – much of the impact of the stalwart is/was within his/her local church. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, as one must take care to groom those within one’s flock (hopefully keeping in mind the multiplier effect of “each one reach one”), but isn’t Christian mentorship and discipleship meant to be more? Shouldn’t the hands of our elders be touching much more than the sheep within their flock? Shouldn’t the everyday testimony and overwhelming hearts of these wards of society be touching the lives of the people they work with in such a way that a relationship is built independent of that person’s current standing in/out of Christ?
hmmm….
Hi all,
I’ve been pretty delinquent in this ministry for a bit due to resource constraints (time and energy mostly) – however, I made a commitment and intend to honor it. I do NEED your feedback to do so though. Please respond to each of the questions below so I can better structure how I deliver the content to you.
Thanks!

- Is there a difference between "real" love and "true" love? Let us know at http://www.bechristminded.com #love #intimacy #Christ #
I had a rather interesting conversation with a good friend of mine recently, and it’s left me with this question… IS there a difference between “real” love and “true” love? Is there? Or are the two the same and this is all a matter of semantics? What are your thoughts?
Here’s some fodder for the discussion:
-> is love “true” if it is not reciprocal? That is, can you say someone is experiencing “true” love when the person the love doesn’t love them in return?
-> if “true” love really has to be reciprocal – then what is God’s love for us? Is it something else? or is it that “true” love does not need to be reciprocal?
Let’s talk this one out!
Be Christ-Minded has taken on our very FIRST guest “writer” and introduced our GUEST AUTHORS section of the website. Make sure to take in “Merging Onto God’s Highway” – the self-told story of a child of God as she grows in Him.
More news (update schedule etc.) on “Merging Onto God’s Highway” will come shortly!
